Prior to joining the association, he worked for Commerzbank, where he was responsible for defining and developing clearing and settlement strategies, mainly for mass payments. As member of the bank’s SEPA Programme Management team, he was closely involved in the implementation of the Payment Service Directive at Commerzbank. Over the years, he represented Commerzbank in the European Payments Council and the German banking community in SWIFT and ISO committees. He was a member of the EBA CLEARING Board from 2004 to 2015 and contributed to different national payment committees in Germany.
