A Costco membership offers several benefits. Here’s how to sign up so you can enjoy those perks.
Sign up in person
When you visit the warehouse’s membership counter, you’ll present your photo ID and provide basic information. While meeting with the membership clerk, you can find the membership option that best fits your needs: Gold Star, Business or Executive Membership.
Sign up online
You can sign up for a Costco membership from the comfort of your home with your smartphone, tablet or computer. Visit Costco.com and select membership on the navigation menu. You’ll be provided with information regarding the membership options and can make your purchase after you find the right fit for you. Once you’ve purchased your membership, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Take your email and photo ID to the Costco membership counter. The employee will take your photo, and you will receive your new membership card. You may also download the Costco app to access your digital membership card.
Sign up over the phone
Another easy way to sign up is to call Costco’s Member Service Center at 1-800-774-2678. You’ll be asked to provide the same basic information as when signing up in person or online, and you can speak with the Member Service representative about any questions you may have.
Perks of being a Costco member
There are plenty of great benefits to being a Costco member. Costco members can book trips with Costco Travel, which includes cruises, hotels and rental cars. Members get access to excellent value on gas, appliances and electronics, grocery delivery, optical and pharmacy services.
Additionally, members can apply for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi, which is available exclusively to Costco members with no annual fee1 with a paid Costco membership. In addition to other perks, cardholders can earn cash back, including 4% cash back on eligible gas and electric vehicle (EV) charging for the first $7,000 per year and then 1% back thereafter. They also get an unlimited 3% back on restaurants and eligible travel (including Costco Travel), an unlimited 2% back on Costco and Costco.com purchases and an unlimited 1% back on all other purchases.
