Citi Mobile Challenge Announces Finalists
'Planet Media', 'Cuatroochenta', 'I-exceed', 'Infobip' and Others to Showcase Ideas & Solutions for Citi's Mobile Banking Platform
Individuals, teams and companies from all over the world were invited to submit their entries in one of two categories: innovative mobile solutions or B2B mobile solutions. More than 150 participants applied for the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and solutions to a panel of international judges on May 30 & 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and June 6 & 7 in Bogota, Colombia.
Among the finalists are:
- Planet Media, whose project 'Push to Customer' would allow the detection of users located inside branches or checkpoints, and send push notifications via SMS or email with a tailored product offering.
- I-exceed Technology Solutions, is presenting 'CitiLite B2B App', which seeks to enable the bank's existing customers to extend their service relationships to their suppliers and clients, empowering end-users to do transactions more efficiently.
- Cuatroochenta's 'Citi Mobile 480 B2B' solution looks to improve the B2B experience, whereby essentially Citi Mobile users could make a payment at any company, provided they are B2B Citi clients, via the Citi Mobile App, without using their physical card.
- Infobip's concept is a Complete Conversation Strategy to cover the entire mobile ecosystem, where you reach clients via SMS to encourage their download of the bank's mobile APP, engage with users to empower your database with triggered push notifications, and finally monetize by using In-App payments solutions.
These are just four of the close to 20 participants that will be presenting their ideas during the first Demo Day event in Buenos Aires, Argentina today and tomorrow.
"We are excited about the global attention we have received, including entries from a total of 19 countries and 50 cities, which is a testament to the entrepreneurial engagement we have worked to achieve in this challenge," said Jorge Ruiz, Business Development and Digital Banking Head for Citi Latin America. He added, "The high caliber of competitors in the Citi Mobile Challenge is representative of the immense digital talent emerging globally, which we have had the privilege of tapping into. The finalists will be at the forefront of mobile banking innovation, and their contributions have the potential to impact millions around the world."
Finalists will have the opportunity to meet Senior Executives from Multinational Fortune 500 Companies, Multilatinas, Citi leaders from across the globe to learn more about how to do business with Citi, as well as engage with Wayra's team and receive coaching and mentoring from Senior Platform Developers in preparation for their Demo.
Winners will be announced on June 13 and will share $60,000 in cash awards. Aside from the cash prize, they will get to bring their ideas to market and transform Latin America's mobile banking sector by engaging with Citi in a commercial relationship, as well as fast-tracking their participation with one of the top Accelerators in the Region.
